Dear
First, my apologies in writing in english but I have no domain in italian language. I hope you can understand my english words...
I'm doing a research about a ship of war named USS Enterprise (sometimes written "Enterprize"). There were several ships named Enterprise but I'm reffering to one that was built in Maryland, 1799. In the 1800's she took part in the Barbarian Wars and circa 1805 she was rebuilt in Venice, Italy.
There is a particularity about this ship: her plans. It is hard to know how she was, because she had three phases: the original building, the rebuilding in Venice and a "retrofit" to become a brigantine (or brig) where she took part in the War of 1812 between United States and England, mainly in the combat with HMS Boxer, in 1813. But in no one of these phases there was found plans.
My research consists of to join information (including textual only) to know how the ship was.
I knew that some plans were found in Venice. And I knew too that there are references about this in the book "Progetti per l'imperatore - Andrea Salvini ingegnere a l'arsenale 1802-1817".
Before I try buy and import it, I would to know if is true that the book has some reference about the USS Enterprise, with or without her plans.
Someone know this book and/or could confirm to me ?
And/or someone could help me with some information, other historical references, etc. about how was the USS Enteprise ?
Regards
Alex
